The Setting:

It is the late 1960s – the Summer of Love.  An era where the youth rebelled against the status quo to proclaim peace, love, and freedom.  Hippies and Flower Children roam the country in vans wearing tie-dyed clothing, beads, and headbands to explore spiritual development, psychedelic art, and far out music.  Opposition to the Vietnam War has given rise to anti-war demonstrations and peace rallies.  This weekend, Peacestock is taking place on a farmland 20 miles away from Boulder, Colorado.  Peacestock is a peace rally and music festival where hippies from all over the country have migrated to experience the groovy sounds and auras of their counterculture brethren.  The alfalfa field of the Yangus family farm is filled with thousands of peace-loving, liberated youths for the weekend.  Some of you are here to express your love of peace and to denounce the Establishment, others are here to perform colorful and unique music – but some of you are here for more sinister reasons.  Consider everyone a suspect and ask your questions thoroughly.  The criminal will be implicated in three ways: A motive, weapon, and opportunity. Many players will have two of these things but only one of them will have all three. For the best results concentrate your questions in these three areas. Everyone must tell the truth except for the criminal. He or she is the only person who can lie.

The Crime:

Just as the first day’s bands were finishing up their sets, a scream rang out over the horde of youths in the audience.  The body of Doug Yangus, the organizer of Peacestock and the owner of the land, was found lying face down in a pile of hay in the barn.  He was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound.    One of you is the murderer, the rest of you need to find out who it is.  When you have found someone with a motive to murder Doug Yangus, a gun to kill him with, and who was in the barn today – then you may have found the true murderer.
