The Setting:
On Mount
Olympus, the sacred home of the Twelve Olympian gods of the
Greek pantheon, the gods have gathered together to celebrate the
arranged wedding of Apollo, the god of medicine and healing, and
Urania, the Muse of astronomy. Gods, goddesses, and demigods
have come from the sky, sea, and underworld to rejoice in this
union and share in the wedding feast within the crystalline
halls of Olympus. The banquet table is filled with delectable
nectar and ambrosia unlike any mortal has ever seen, and a
cornucopia, the horn of Amaltheia, sits in the center. Each
guest has come bearing a magnificent wedding gift for the bride
and groom. Some of you are here to revel in the splendor of the
wedding feast, but others have come for more sinister reasons.
Consider everyone a suspect and ask your questions thoroughly.
The thief will be implicated in three ways: A motive, weapon,
and a key. Many players will have two of these things but only
one of them will have all three. For the best results
concentrate your questions in these three areas. Everyone must
tell the truth except for the criminal. He or she is the only
person who can lie.
The Crime:
Zeus, the chief of the Olympian gods,
is father to both Apollo and Urania and he has brought the most
marvelous gift of all – the Golden Fleece of the winged ram,
Chrysomallus. Because this gift was so precious, Zeus stored
the Fleece in a vault within the Olympian Treasury. He then,
gave the keys to the vault to the messenger god, Hermes, for
safekeeping. But when the time of gift-giving came, Zeus was
furious to find that the vault is empty and the Golden Fleece is
missing! He was so enraged that he hurled a dozen lightning
bolts at the earth and the heavens trembled with thunder. Who
among the guests is brazen enough to steal from the chief of the
gods and desecrate the wedding of his children? One of you is
the thief. The rest of you need to find out who it is before
the wedding banquet leads to a cataclysmic disaster. When you
have found someone with a motive to steal the Golden Fleece, who
possesses a set of keys to unlock the vault, and who was in the
Olympian Treasury, then you may have found the true culprit.
GOOD LUCK!!!
